Bhumika Chawla holds a sun sign Leo, as she was born on August 21st in the year 1978. She is an Indian actress who ventured in Bollywood films after making debut in south Indian film industry. Bhumika is called as a “Gudiya” due to her innocent looks and her original name which is enrolled in her school records is Rachna. She is also called as Bhumika and sometimes Bhumi in the film industry.
Born to Colonel AS and Bali Chawla, Bhumika is well known for her aesthetic acting and dancing skills. The girl who is just 5 feet 3 inches in height and weighs around 49 kilos has carved her won niche in the film industry and is also a well known face in Bollywood.
Equipped with a girl next door looks and a pretty and charming face, Bhumika had a passion to become an actress from her childhood. But being the third and last sibling in the house she had to first keep her education qualifications intact and then was allowed to chase her dreams.
Bhumika was born in New Delhi and as her father was a colonel she pursued her school and higher education in New Delhi itself. In the year 1997, after completing her graduation in arts, she moved on to Mumbai to chase her dreams. As a Army Officer, colonel as supported his daughter in every possible way and gave her a freedom to choose her profession.
Bhumika has an elder brother Colonel Chawla who is also serving the Indian nation as an army officer. Bhumika has an elder sister who is a married woman and is settled in North India.
Bhumika’s personnel life
Bhumika Chawla is said to be a witty lady with immense knowledge in the world around. She is said to be a straight forward lady and never hides any thing. She is an introvert and mingles with the person only after proper guestimating him/her. Unlike other young girls/woman she never sets her tongue loose and blah’s her words to the maximum extent. She speaks less and loves reading novel, especially thrillers and also loves to hear music. Her favorite traveling spots are hill stations and desires to travel to Kullu- Manali.
Bhumika loves her attires to be in black and mostly white and since white and black are her favorite colors she drapes white Kurtha’s and tops on black pants and churidars.
Bhumika was initially linked to a Tamil co-star and a Telugu film actor, but she openly disclosed that she was not in love with anyone.
Later on, it was reported that she was in love with yoga guru Bharath Thakur and no sooner did this news spread, their marriage date was announced.
Bhumika married Bharath Thakur in a simple ceremony on October 25th, 2007. But it was later on reported that ritually the marriage was performed on October 21st which was attended by her family members.
Bhumika’s professional career
With a graceful and charming face and a warm smile, Bhumika attracted a million with her simple and eye-catching looks. She laughs with her eyes and this attracts many males towards her.
Initially, Bhumika Thakur (as she is married) ventured into modeling and then was seen in major company advertisements and music videos. She has done almost 15 ad films and her major one was a Ponds Powder advertisement which brought her into limelight.
Recently in November 2008, Bhumika officially announced that she is planning to venture out into print media and is set to start a weekly magazine which will be based on films and film industry. The magazine is titled as Cinemaaya Bazar and a website on the same name is also planned out in early 2009.
Bhumika inaugurated a new office of hers at film Nagar in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and is into real estate business presently.
Bhumika’s film career
- In the year 2000, Bhumika made her debut in Telugu industry and the film was Yuvakudu which had Actor Sumanth in the lead. The movie was about a youngster who desires to take up the profession of armed forces and full fill his fathers dream.
- Later on the pond dream flower advertisement made Bhumika a hit in the modeling circuit and she got selected opposite to Pawan Kalyan for the film “Khushi”. The movie was a mega hit at the box office and ran for almost 200 days in Andhra Pradesh.
- Then in the year 2003, Bhumika happened to make her career in bollywood and featured in Tere Naam which was alongside Salman Khan. The movie was success at the box office. The story was about a hero who falls in love with a junior in his college. The movie was emotionally strengthened subject. It fetched Bhumika a film fare as a best actress and a best debut film fare.
- In the year 2008, Bhumika was seen opposite to Gurdas Mann in the Punjabi film titled Yaariyan which was a decent hit.
