Rani Mukerji wants good roles

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Rani Mukerji, who is almost a recluse and steps out only when a film of hers is nearing release, interacted with children from eight city-based orphanages recently and spent time singing and dancing with them along with the cast and crew of her latest Yash Raj film, Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic.

“I keep to myself after shooting and don’t go where there is a lot of media. I like to spend time with my family when I am not working,” she said, clarifying her reclusive stand.Rani has been doing films only for the Yash Raj camp and her favourite director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, of late. When quizzed about it, she admitted she had become selective about her roles. “I want to essay characters which I have not done before.

The roles I am offered by these directors are very significant and good. So why would I do insignificant roles? Let the other producers and directors offer me good roles, I am open to doing them,” Rani retorted.  She added that this was the first time in her life she had not used glycerine in a film. “I don’t have to cry in any frame of Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic and I wear only one outfit throughout the film which is something very unusual,” she laughed.

Secret of Kat’s peaches and cream complexion

Katrina Kaif is going places and has made a definite mark in Bollywood. Her her devotion to her work and glamourous looks add to the overall star quotient and she’s the preferred choice of filmmakers and actors alike ever since she became the hit machine. And even though she maintains a strict diet and fitness regime which has her looking fabulous nowadays, Katrina has a special midnight snack that keeps her going when she’s very tired. “I like to drink a glass of milk with sugar and rice when I am very tired and it’s late. I prefer that to eating then because I am too tired to eat,” says Katrina.

Is that the secret to her peaches and cream complexion?

Ajay’s spending time at home

Ajay Devgan is under the weather and it’s got nothing to do with Mumbai’s sweltering summer. The actor was recently invited to a school function in Bhopal where luminaries like Javed Akhtar were also invited.

After his speech, he felt very uneasy, so much so that he had to be rushed to a hospital in the city. According to the doctors, he had suffered from a heatstroke and was advised complete bed rest.

Ajay even called up his doctor in Mumbai and he advised him to take it easy and rest. Since then, Ajay has been at home in Mumbai, taking care of his health whilst wife Kajol and daughter Nysa spend quality time with the very busy actor.

John Abraham friendly on facebook

Monday, May 26th, 2008

John Abraham is one of the most net savvy actors in Bollywood, even though he’s not a very phone-friendly guy (despite his caller tunes being very cool and macho). But the actor is very communicative on the web and even on the social networking site, Facebook. On his profile, he’s very warm and friendly with his fans and friends alike.

John also has his own website, johnabraham.com and had started it when very few people in the film world had their own domains. And the dutiful boyfriend that he is, his website has a link out to girlfriend Bipasha Basu’s website too.

John is certainly going the right way by using the Internet to reach out to his fans all over the world. And his quotable quotes on his website are interesting to say the least. He likens his passion for motorbikes to dancing with a woman. “Riding a bike is like dancing with a woman. You have to know how she turns and swings. How she rises and falls. You have to understand her body language,” is what he thinks.  It won’t be surprising if John starts blogging soon like Aamir Khan and AB have done.

Vidya Balan with Aishwarya rai hubbi now

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Vidya Balan, who started her Bollywood career with Sanjay Dutt and Saif Ali Khan in Parineeta has since always been paired opposite A-list stars in the business and her being cast with Shahid Kapoor in Aziz Mirza’s Kismet Konnection has been quite the talk of the town, to the extent that they are a couple too.

But Vidya will now be seen with Abhishek Bachchan in R. Balakrishnan’s next titled Pa. This is the advertising maverick’s second film after Cheeni Kum which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu. Balki, as Balakrishnan is fondly called, titled the film Pa as a result of Abhishek addressing his father with that endearment. “I am still working on the script of Pa and I am in talks with Vidya to play a part,” says Balki. Apparently, Vidya was not his first choice for the role, but Tabu who he had worked with in Cheeni Kum. But rumours are rife that Tabu is miffed with the filmmaker and did not want to work with him again.

But Balki denies anything of the sort. “Tabu and me having problems is just a rumour. These are all rumours. There have been no problems. We are good friends and we are looking forward to working together soon,” he clarifies. So is Tabu a part of Pa? “No, she is not in Pa but she’s definitely in my next project. She is a talented actress and I would like to work with her again,” he says. For now, Vidya can add Abhishek to her clique of actors.

Neetu Chandra is open for kiss scenes

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Neetu Chandra, apart from being an actress, is also a trained classical dancer. She has not only learnt classical folk but also learnt western dance. “I love to dance. I can dance to any kind of music. I simply enjoy any form of dance and I enjoy doing stage shows whenever I get time from my shooting schedules,” she says.

So what is her first love — dance or films? “That is really unfair. You cannot expect a mother to choose between her two children. Similarly, dance and acting are extremely close to my heart. I have been doing both since my childhood so I love them both equally,” says the actress.

Neetu is also very optimistic about her career. Where does she see herself five years from now? “Obviously on the top of the Bollywood heap.”

Neetu is not averse to the idea of kissing on screen. “I think kissing is normal. If it does not look sleazy and vulgar, I think it is fine to enact a kissing scene on screen. We kiss our boyfriends in real life, so if that’s what you are trying to portray on screen, then why not? So many great actors have also kissed on screen. But if it is gracefully shot, then I see nothing wrong with it,” she says.
